Classes FAQ
Do you offer children's classes?
Fired Up is an adults-only facility. If you are looking for children's classes, please refer to this list of resources.
When do the next classes start?
We regularly run the same schedule of classes. Our eight week Beginning and Beyond Beginner Pottery classes start in January, March, June, and September. The schedule for the next session of classes is generally posted on the website two weeks after the current session begins.
Can I get a refund if I cancel the class?
If you cancel 1 week prior to the 1st class session, you will be refunded for the class fee minus a $50 administration fee. No refunds will be given after the start of the 2nd class session. If you have extenuating circumstances, please let us know so we can work something out.
What happens if Fired Up cancels a class?
Fired Up Studios would only cancel a class if the class does not meet the minimum enrollment requirement. If Fired Up Studios does cancel a class, you will have the option of a full refund or to transfer your enrollment into another class.
How much open studio time is available?
Open studio time is available for all students six days a week during our office hours from Noon to 5 p.m. Students may continue to work after 5 p.m. if they have class that evening. There is no open studio on Wednesdays when we are closed.
We also offer Student Memberships for those students who want 24/7 studio access.
If I miss a class, can I make it up?
There are no make-up classes. If you know you need to miss a class, please let your instructor know and they can tell you what will be covered in that class. Most of our instructors also arrive early, so you can speak with them about what was covered in a missed class. We encourage students who miss a class to use our open studio time to make up for the lost practice time.
What happens if Fired Up cancels a class meeting?
If a class is canceled due to bad weather or the instructor has to be absent, we will extend classes for one more week to make up the canceled class.
What happens to my work if I do not finish it in class?
We will allow students one week after classes end to finish up work made during the class. Special arrangements can be made if you need more time to finish your work. We will hold work for approximately 30 days before disposing of it.
What happens to Wednesday class if Fired Up is closed?
We will have the studio open by 5 p.m. for students in the Wednesday evening class who wish to come early.
Should I take Beginning Pottery more than once?
Many of our students enjoy taking our Beginning Pottery classes multiple times. It takes practice to become comfortable with the basics of pottery. Often taking the class multiple times or from different instructors will give you new insight into the process. If you are not comfortable working without an instructor to question, it is probably a good idea to continue taking the class.
When should I take the Beyond Beginner Pottery class?
You need to be comfortable with the basics of wheel-thrown pottery before taking the Beyond Beginner class. After taking the Beginning Pottery classes, we recommend spending some time as a member practicing the basic skills. The Beyond Beginner Pottery class is designed to provide instruction in advanced techniques that the students request to learn.
When can I become a studio member at Fired Up Studios?
If you are enrolled in an eight-week class at Fired Up Studios, you may join as a Student Member. You may join as a Studio Member after one class, if you are comfortable working on your own without instruction.
